PROCEDURE FOR BOTH MALE AND FEMALE

1. Ideally, (you) the patient should not have passed urine for at least an hour.
2. MALES - retract foreskin (if applicable) FEMALES – part the labia
3. Pass first 10-20mls of urine into sterile jar. Pass remaining urine into toilet.
4. NOTE: Maximum amount in jar = 1/3 full (approx. 20mls)
5. Screw lid firmly onto jar.
6. Return sample to your nearest Abbott Pathology Collection Centre as soon as possible (see back of request form for centre locations).
